The U.S. Department of State has announced that the United States will not support the declaration issued at the International Migration Review Forum, citing concerns over national sovereignty and immigration policy. According to the State Department, Washington opposes what it described as efforts by the United Nations to promote or facilitate migration policies that conflict with U.S. national interests.
In its statement, the State Department reaffirmed that immigration decisions should remain under the authority of individual nations and emphasized the administration’s commitment to maintaining independent border and migration policies. The move reflects the broader U.S. position of resisting international frameworks perceived to influence domestic immigration matters.
