State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir has expressed Bangladesh’s hope for an early end to tensions in the Middle East, highlighting Dhaka’s preference for a peaceful and lasting resolution to regional conflicts.
Kobir made the remarks on Wednesday during a courtesy meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr. Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi, according to a statement from the Foreign Ministry.
The two sides discussed issues of mutual interest, while the state minister stressed Bangladesh’s expectation that tensions in the Middle East would ease at the earliest possible time.
Kobir’s comments reflect Bangladesh’s broader diplomatic position of supporting stability and peaceful solutions to conflicts that have wider humanitarian and economic consequences. Prolonged instability in the region can affect not only local populations but also global energy markets, trade, shipping, and supply chains.
For Bangladesh, developments in the Middle East carry particular importance because of the country’s economic and people-to-people links with the region. Any prolonged escalation could create additional pressure on international trade and energy costs while affecting the large number of Bangladeshi workers living across the Gulf.
The meeting with the Iranian envoy also provides a channel for Dhaka and Tehran to exchange views on regional developments and bilateral interests. While Bangladesh maintains relations with countries across the region, its emphasis on de-escalation and lasting stability signals an effort to support dialogue without taking sides in regional disputes.
