Anwar Shahadat, NEW YORK — The team behind Minnesota Goodbye has been selected as the winner of the 2026 AT&T Untold Stories award, receiving $1.2 million in funding to produce their first feature film.
The project is led by writer-director Sid Gopinath, writer Aditya Joshi, and producer Alifya Ali. In addition to the funding provided through AT&T, the filmmaking team will receive year-round mentorship and development support from Tribeca Studios.
Organizers said Minnesota Goodbye was chosen by a Greenlight Committee composed of filmmakers and industry leaders, including Phoebe Robinson, AT&T Chief Marketing and Growth Officer Kellyn Smith Kenny, filmmaker Isabel Sandoval, writer-producer Moisés Zamora, and 2024 AT&T Untold Stories winner Lilian T. Mehrel.
The film is scheduled to premiere at the 2027 Tribeca Festival.
The AT&T Untold Stories program, presented in partnership with the Tribeca Festival, supports emerging filmmakers by providing funding, mentorship, and production resources to help bring new feature films to the screen.
